John Edwards’ defense team revealed yesterday that the disgraced politician’s wacky mistress, Rielle Hunter, may testify in her baby-daddy’s defense.
Hunter, whose business card reads, “Being is free,” is at the center of the federal criminal case against Edwards, who is charged with using $1 million in unreported donations to fund her lavish lifestyle in exchange for hiding the affair during the 2008 presidential campaign.
Yesterday was the first time defense attorney Abbe Lowell said Hunter, 48, could be called. He also said he hasn’t ruled out having the ex-senator himself testify.
